Religious School

Our religious school serves children from kindergarten through 10th grade. We aim to engage children in the joy of Jewish living, and for them to have a lifelong connection to the Jewish community. Our students explore their Jewish identity through hands-on activities, experiential and active learning experiences, and meaningful discussion. One of our major goals is for our students to enjoy their religious school experience, so there is always an element of FUN!!!

According to Mordecai M. Kaplan, “To make an adequate Jewish education available to every Jewish child is the responsibility of the entire Jewish community and not exclusively that of the parents of the congregation.  All Jewish parents should be apprised of the importance of Jewish education for the happy adjustment of the Jewish child to conditions of life in America.  They should be urged to enroll their children in a Jewish school with a rich cultural curriculum.  A mere Sunday school education is inadequate.”

At CBH, we strive to have family programs and mutigenerational learning to better educate and provide strong bonds for our children, their parents, and the CBH community, in a warm, supportive environment.

NEW and Exciting Teen Program

It is our hope that our teens will remain active and engaged in our community.  We encourage participation at community events, and ask the teens to help out at different times throughout the year, such as during High Holidays and in the religious school.

We have a Confirmation program that extends formal learning beyond B’nai Mitzvah, where we strive to foster Jewish identity on a more mature level, and on topics that are age appropriate. There is also an emphasis on Social Justice and participation in the CBH and greater Jewish community.

Our formal program is for students in grades 8-10.  However, all teen activities are open to all teens in our community, regardless of whether they are pursuing Confirmation, or just participating in social activities.
