Yom Hashoah

Our congregation has several connections to the Shoah (Holocaust). On Yom Hashoah in 2008, CBH participated for the first time in the Summit Jewish Community observation of this solemn day. In 2009, CBH was honored to be the host for the Summit Jewish Community's observance. This page will collect and preserve Shoah stories from members of our community.

I Am a Child of Survivors, Ari Zahemski tells her family's story.

Helen Spekman (Z"L) -- A Survivor Story, This powerful story was told by Sandy, Helen's daughter-in-law, during shiva, immediately preceding Yom Hashoah.

My Family's Story, Pam Schachter tells her family's story.

P.O.W., CBH's founding president Bob Max shares his story as a slave laborer in Germany during the war. From ICON Magazine, December 1998.

Holocaust Twinning

The Metrowest UJC has established a "Twin-With-A-Survivor" program where teens "twin with" a Holocaust survivor and promise to keep their story alive. Several of CBH's b'nai mitzvah kids have participated in this program and have found it to bevery meaningful.

Read more about the program and check back here for information about some our our "twins".
