"Scriptures in Pictures: the D'rash Design Project and More"
Description of presentation: Judaica and multimedia artist Christina Mattison Ebert will share her long-term visual midrash endeavor — the D'rash Design Project" — which includes over 70 unique illustrations and written descriptions based on the Torah, haftarah, and other traditional Jewish texts, blessings and holidays. In discussing the details of the project, Christina will weave in her own personal narrative as an adult convert to Judaism and how her spiritual journey has coincided with and influenced her creative process. 
Artist Bio: Christina Mattison Ebert is a multimedia artist, writer and director with an MFA in Visual Narrative from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. First starting out her creative career in illustration and drawing, Christina's curiosity and tendency toward experimentation led her to expand her practice to include collage, photo-illustration, animation and film. Her most recent projects include adapting illustrated narratives into responsive, interactive digital formats. A portfolio of Christina's visual narrative work can be found at, including a digital short story presenting a modern re-telling of the Book of Ruth.
