Meet Our Educational Director, Nancy Hersh

Nancy Hersh has been with us since our beginning, first as one of our teachers, and since 1998 as our Educational Director. She has a B.A. degree in Communications, has trained extensively in Jewish education, and has many years of teaching and administrative experience. She is a founding member of RENA (Reconstructionist Educators of North America), and currently serves on the Youth and Education Commission of the Jewish Reconstructionist movement.

Nancy has developed many creative programs for our student and worked with our rabbi and religious school committee to create a comprehensive curriculum that grows in children a sense of who they are and belonging.

"The goal of our curriculum," she explains, "is for the children to have a positive experience while learning about Judaism, and becoming part of the Jewish community." We hope our children will have a lifelong connection to both Judaism and the Jewish people, and to understand the importance of community. Learning to read Hebrew and understanding how their role as Jews evolves within our society should be exciting and fun, and ultimately, instill a sense of pride in our children."
